Besseggen

Jotunheimen, 20 July 2014

I've hiked Besseggen several times, but didnt manage to do it with any of my kids till my daughter was grown up.
On the background picture my daughter looks back to the starting point - Gjendeheim.
We walked from here to Memurubu, via Besseggen.

two small tents

view from my tent in the morning

The summer was very warm, even in the mountain, and we slept in small single-person tents.

We shipped these, and other luggage, to the destination for the night, and walked with a light backpack each.

a spot with internet connection

a little by little the internet connection weakened, but still we could find spots where we could check social media.

This is the famous Besseggen - known from Henrik Ibsen's "Peer Gynt" - and one of the most beautiful hiking spots in Jotunheimen.

Out destination is where the lake Gjende makes a bend and there's an inlet to the right in the middle of the picture.

So there's still a distance to walk

a refreshing pause

a refreshing swim in Bessvatnet

the day was one of the warmest this month, and a swin in Bessvatnet after the descend was refreshing.

especially when the water temperature was just some degrees above freezing point.

so the swim was short
